When Susie and Kieran contacted me about photographing their elopement at Union Station, I knew it was going to be a unique and exciting experience. Union Station is one of the most iconic landmarks in Denver, CO, and a popular destination for weddings, engagements, and other special events. The mountains are great, but the city vibe is just as magical, so I was thrilled to be a part of this romantic adventure!

On a sunny afternoon in mid-January (yes, it’s always sunny in Denver), Susie and Kieran arrived at Union Station dressed to the nines. Susie wore a stunning white off-the-shoulder dress that twirled around her as she walked and fit her like a glove. When we were outside, Susie brought this STUNNING customized leather jacket that said “Just Married” and was honestly such a city vibe. Kieran opted for an incredible tan and black suit with a white shirt and no tie, that went well with Susie’s bouquet from the Union Station florist, Land Fall Floral Co. They both looked gorgeous and radiant, full of joy and excitement for what was about to come.

We started the Elopement by exploring the various corners of Union Station, from the grand hall with its soaring ceilings and elegant chandeliers to the cozy nooks and crannies that offered a more intimate setting. Everywhere we went, we found beautiful backdrops and interesting angles to capture their love and connection.

As we walked around, we chatted about their story and how they met. Susie and Kieran had been together for a long time, and they had decided to elope instead of having a big wedding. They wanted to focus on each other and the experience of getting married, without the stress and distractions of planning a big event. Union Station was the perfect location for them, as it combined the elegance and history of a traditional wedding venue with the urban and modern vibe of downtown Denver.

After taking dozens of photos and creating a treasure trove of memories, we found a quiet spot outside Union Station to perform the ceremony. Susie and Kieran exchanged vows and rings, with only me as a witness. It was a touching and emotional moment, full of love and commitment. They sealed their union with a kiss, and I captured the moment on camera, freezing it in time forever. They even had their first dance next to the train tracks!

As we said our goodbyes and hugged each other, Susie and Kieran thanked me for being a part of their special day. Here are some things to consider when planning an elopement at Unione Station:

Choose your date and time. Denver Union Station is open from 5am to 1am, so you have plenty of time to choose your perfect date and time. If you want to avoid crowds, I recommend getting married early in the morning.

Plan your flowers. Flowers are a beautiful addition to any wedding, and they can really make your elopement special. There are many florists in Denver who can help you create the perfect bouquet. There’s even one right in Union Station!
Plan your transportation. You’ll need to figure out how you’re going to get to and from Denver Union Station. If you’re driving, I recommend parking in one of the nearby parking garages. If you’re taking public transportation, I recommend taking the light rail to Union Station.
Plan your accommodations. If you’re not from Denver (or even if you’re a local), you’ll need to find a place to stay! There are many hotels and Airbnbs in Denver, so you can find something that fits your budget. You can even stay right in Union Station at the Crawford Hotel.
