Jess & Brandon…where do I even begin? We all woke up at the crack of dawn to make sure we got to Horseshoe Bend for sunrise. If you’ve never been to Horseshoe Bend, I think it should be considered one of the wonders of the world. Located in Northern Arizona in Page, Arizona, Horseshoe Bend makes you feel like you’re on a different planet. That’s exactly the vibe that Jess & Brandon were going for with their beautiful and intimate elopement.
The thing about Horseshoe Bend is that the weather can be pretty unpredictable. For Jess & Brandon’s elopement, Northern Arizona was experiencing an uncharacteristic cold front. So needless to say, it was a bit chilly! (Don’t worry, I always have extra gloves and hand warmers around)! However, because of this, we essentially had the whole place to ourselves! Jess & Brandon got to exchange their vow overlooking the whole park and we were able to take some epic portraits as well!
some things to know about horseshoe bend…
- If you have less than 5 people (including your vendors) you do not need a special permit
- For more than 5 people, you need to obtain a special permit at least 45 days in advance (the earlier the better)! Props and decor also require a special permit (honestly, you don’t really need anything)!
- Parking fee is $10 (you pay as you go into the entrance)
- You will find the least amount of crowds during sunrise
- You will also find fewer crowds on a week day.
Jess & Brandon had a truly unique and special experience for their elopement. With locations like Horseshoe Bend, it’s always important to have a photographer who knows the area and has some backup plans!
