If the thought of exchanging vows above the treetops, surrounded by crisp alpine air and endless mountain views sounds like your kind of magic, eloping in Breckenridge, Colorado might just be the best decision you ever make.
As a Breckenridge elopement photographer who believes that your wedding day should feel intentional, emotional, and beautifully you, I’ve spent years capturing love stories in this little mountain town that’s big on soul. Whether you’re dreaming of a cozy lodge ceremony, a mountaintop adventure, or a quiet lakeside vow exchange, Breckenridge has something for every kind of couple.
Let’s dive into four of my favorite places to elope in Breckenridge (including the place where I said “I do!”)
The Lodge at Breckenridge: Mountain Views + Cozy Luxury
Let’s start with the place that holds a very special place in my heart, The Lodge at Breckenridge, where I married the love of my life!
Perched high above town, the Lodge offers panoramic views of the Tenmile Range and a ceremony deck that will make your jaw drop. It’s romantic, elevated (literally and emotionally), and ideal for couples who want that perfect balance of nature and comfort. Whether you’re eloping just the two of you or bringing a handful of guests, this spot delivers every time.
Bonus: There’s an on-site spa, rooms for your crew, and cozy fireplaces for post-ceremony snuggles.
Sapphire Point Overlook: Iconic, Accessible, and Gorgeous
Just a few minutes from downtown Breckenridge, Sapphire Point is a classic for a reason. With sweeping views of Dillon Reservoir and the Gore Range, it’s stunning year-round,especially at sunrise or golden hour.
You can reserve the overlook through the U.S. Forest Service, which makes it perfect for micro-weddings or elopements with a few loved ones. After your ceremony, we can sneak away for portraits on the nearby trail, with pine trees, water, and mountain views all around.
Loveland Pass: For the Wild & Windswept
A short drive from Breckenridge, Loveland Pass sits at nearly 12,000 feet, making it one of the most epic elopement backdrops in Colorado. Think dramatic ridgelines, ever-changing weather, and 360° views that will take your breath away.
It’s perfect for adventurous couples who want to feel on top of the world. Snow, sun, fog, or wind, it all adds to the raw beauty of this place.
Boreas Pass Road: Golden Aspens + Ridge Views
If you’re eloping in the fall, Boreas Pass is pure magic. This scenic dirt road runs above Breckenridge and is famous for its golden aspen tunnels in late September. There are multiple pull-offs with stunning views, quiet forested nooks, and even old railroad structures that add a bit of rustic charm.
Pro tip: The views from the top (near the Section House) are incredible at sunset. Bring a picnic, pop some champagne, and watch the mountains turn gold.
Blue Lakes Trailhead: Alpine Lakes + Waterfall Vibes
Just south of town, Blue Lakes offers turquoise waters, a waterfall, and soaring peaks, all within a short walk from the parking lot. It’s one of the most photogenic spots in the area, and it’s ideal for couples who want big scenery without a long hike.
The dramatic cliffs and reflective lakes make this a stunner at sunrise, and it’s especially beautiful in the summer when wildflowers are blooming.
So… Where Should You Elope in Breckenridge?
The truth? There’s no wrong answer. Whether you’re called to snow-covered peaks, still alpine lakes, or cozy lodges, Breckenridge gives you permission to elope your way (not that you need it!).
Your elopement doesn’t have to be rushed, rigid, or full of things that don’t feel like you. It can be slow, joyful, sacred. A deep breath and a fresh start. And I’d be honored to help you capture every bit of it.
Let’s craft your mountain love story together.
