Your Go-To Resource for an Unforgettable Colorado Elopement Experience
Are you dreaming of a wildly romantic and scenic elopement in the heart of the Rockies? Look no further. Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) and nearby Estes Park offer the perfect blend of majestic mountain views, alpine lakes, and cozy mountain town charm for couples looking to tie the knot in a meaningful and intimate way. Whether you’re planning a two-person adventure elopement or a small wedding with your closest loved ones, this guide is your ultimate resource.
As a Colorado elopement & wedding photographer, I’ve captured many love stories in RMNP and Estes Park, and I’m here to help you plan your day with ease and intention. It’s one of my most favorite places in Colorado!

🌲 Why Elope in Rocky Mountain National Park?
Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most iconic places to elope in Colorado. With over 400 square miles of protected wilderness, stunning mountain peaks, waterfalls, and crystal-clear alpine lakes, it’s no wonder this is a top elopement destination for adventurous couples.
Plus, Estes Park, the charming mountain town just outside the park, is the perfect home base for your elopement experience, offering cozy cabins, luxury lodges, local eats, tons of activities, and even some haunted (oooo spooky) places!
📋 RMNP Elopement Permits & Rules
To get married inside Rocky Mountain National Park, you must secure a wedding permit through the National Park Service. (hint: I can help you with all of this)! Here’s what you need to know:
- Permit Fee: $300
- Booking Window: Up to 1 year in advance; spots are limited to 60 weddings per month, so book early!
- Guest Limit: Varies by location, usually between 2–30 people
- Allowed Ceremony Locations: There are 12 designated ceremony sites in the park (see below)
- No decorations, chairs, arches, or amplified music allowed

📍 Best Places to Elope in Rocky Mountain National Park
Here are a few of my favorite designated ceremony locations in RMNP:
- Sprague Lake – Gorgeous lake with mountain views, wheelchair accessible, up to 15 guests
- Bear Lake – One of the most iconic spots, best for sunrise, 20-person limit
- Moraine Park – Open meadow with panoramic views, especially stunning in fall, up to 30 guests

📸 Final Tips from Your Colorado Elopement Photographer
- Weekday elopements are best to avoid crowds (especially Monday–Thursday).
- Sunrise ceremonies offer the most private and beautiful light.
- Always check road and trail conditions before your day.
- Hire vendors who specialize in adventure elopements—they’ll understand the unique flow of the day.
And of course, I’ll be there to document every laugh, tear, and mountaintop kiss. 💍✨
